Champions Trophy 2025: According to PCB's tentative schedule, all Indian matches will be played in Lahore

PCB drafts schedule All India games could be held in Lahore Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi are the three venues where the PCB may plan to host the two-week tournament.

Indian team's matches can be held in one city

The PCB's schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy could see India stay in one city for the entire tournament, according to a media report, as the board looks for ways to accommodate India's first possible trip to Pakistan in nearly 17 years.

Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi are the three venues where the PCB is planning to host the two-week Champions Trophy. ESPNcricinfo has reported that India have been included in the schedule and will play all their matches in Lahore - where the final is also to be held.

Due to the security of the Indian team, matches will be held in one city

It is believed that the proposal to settle India into one city was made because it would avoid significant logistical and security headaches during their travels. Additionally, being located in Lahore, which is close to the Wagah border between the two countries, it will be an easy travel option for Indian visitors.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi had said earlier this week that the board has sent a draft schedule of the tournament, which is likely to be held in mid-February next year, to the ICC. There will be a discussion involving the eight members attending, with the main issue likely to be whether the Indian team will travel or not.

The Indian team has not played any match in Pakistan since 2008.

However, since the return of international cricket in Pakistan in 2015, every single team involved in the Champions Trophy except India has toured and played Pakistan.

No Indian team has played in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup. Relations between the two governments have deteriorated steadily and often rapidly, especially after the Mumbai terrorist attacks of the same year. Those strikes ended a rare period of reward in the rivalry, with the two sides having played each other in four bilateral series in the last four years.

Last year, when Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup, they were forced to deploy a hybrid model, with India playing all their games – including the matches against Pakistan – in Sri Lanka. India won the final of the tournament held in Colombo.

The final decision on whether India will tour Pakistan for the Champions Trophy will rest with the Indian government rather than the BCCI.
