Gautam Gambhir Becomes the Head Coach of Team India!

Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir is considered certain to become the head coach. In fact, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had recently clarified that the BCCI is looking for veterans who have a good understanding of domestic cricket. Shah had said, "Finding the right coach for our national team is a careful and intensive process. We are focused on identifying individuals who have a deep understanding of the Indian cricket structure and have moved up the ranks." The BCCI secretary also pointed out that having an understanding of Indian domestic cricket will be one of the key criteria for the appointment of the next coach. He said that this understanding will be important to take Team India to the next level.

He also said that an Indian coach can understand Indian players very well. Therefore, Gambhir is considered certain to become the coach.

The tenure of current Team India coach Rahul Dravid is ending with the T20 World Cup 2024. The BCCI has started the search for a new coach. Former opener Gautam Gambhir's name is at the forefront of this race. Meanwhile, the report has revealed that the board may interview Gambhir today. Apart from this, he is the only person to apply for this post.

Meanwhile, the report claims that Gambhir is the only applicant for the post of head coach. According to media reports, the veteran may appear for an interview in front of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) on video call today. Last month, the BCCI had invited applications for this post, the last date for which was fixed as 27 May. The tenure of the new coach will be from July 2024 to 31 December 2027.

Who is included in the CAC?

The CAC includes former cricketers Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjape, and Sulakshana Naik. Additionally, candidates for the selector post to replace Salil Ankola may also be interviewed. With Gambhir's potential appointment, cricket match prediction enthusiasts eagerly await his impact on Team India's future. The new coach's tenure will span from July 2024 to December 2027.
